Private Cloud services are typically available in two types – hosted cloud solutions and on-premise cloud solutions. An on-premise cloud solution refers to cloud infrastructure hosted within an organisation’s private datacenter or office, as opposed to a hosted private cloud which is run externally by a provider offering services such as infrastructural support/management.

Points to Remember

  • An on-premise cloud service is entirely under a single organisation’s control and influence, with a high degree of customisability to tune it to specific needs.
  • At the same time, it may come with additional charges in the form of server maintenance, dedicated staff, and other up-front costs.
